Kirkwood Changes Lives, One Student At A Time.
When our students come to us, they each bring a unique story, a unique set of strengths and challenges. Our students can be almost any age and at any point in their education and careers. Many will work part-time while they attend Kirkwood; some will have children to care for. Some will come with a clear career goal; others will discover a life's work through a Kirkwood education. Yet they all share a desire to learn, to master new skills, to become better providers, better employees, better members of their communities.
As each one pursues a dream, they also strengthen our region and our state. Kirkwood educates and trains people to contribute to our 21st century workforce needs-the biggest challenge facing economic development in our region. 90% of Kirkwood alumni stay in Iowa and 70% stay in our seven county service area. That means the nurses, child care experts, engineers, chefs, farmers, accountants, firefighters, doctors, police officers, lawyers, and teachers who start at Kirkwood will likely remain in Iowa. By supporting Kirkwood students, we support our own communities, creating an ongoing wave of opportunity for all.
Our Purpose
