Grants Services
Kirkwood Community College actively pursues grants from federal, state, and private sources to help its faculty, staff, and administrators pursue the mission of the College for our stakeholders:
· To identify community needs
· To provide accessible, quality education and training
· To promote opportunities for lifelong learning
Grants allow the College to augment its annual operating budget, stimulate innovation, and meet the unique needs of our region. For fiscal year 2007, the College received $7,733,465 in operational grants from organizations such as the US Department of Health and Human Services, Iowa Department of Economic Development, and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
For example, the National Science Foundation provided Kirkwood a $105,073 grant for “STEPs to Bridge the Way,” a creative program to increase the number of students pursing and receiving degrees in science, technology, engineering, and math by offering a seamless transition from high school to community college to a four-year degree program.
