Key Policies and Procedures
- Key requests must be submitted to Facilities. Please allow up to 2 days to process the request. You will be notified when your key(s) is ready to be picked up.
- The person requesting the key(s) is the one who will be using the key(s) and is accountable for it. They are the one who must pick up the key(s) from Facilities and at that time will sign a key agreement form.
- When an employee resigns from Kirkwood, transfers to another department, or just has not need for a key anymore, they must complete a key return form and return it (with the key) to Facilities. The key(s) will then be taken off that employee's inventory. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE KEYS TO BE PASSED FROM ONE EMPLOYEE TO ANOTHER.
- Keys checked out to adjunct faculty, part-time employees and work study students are to be monitored by each department. It is their responsibility to remind those employees to turn in their keys when they resign from Kirkwood. For the safety and security of Kirkwood's employees, buildings and equipment it is vital that we all work together to ensure an accurate inventory of who possesses keys to our buildings, classrooms and offices.
